Primary Suite is Sweet

A 4th design project by MKA for this Los Gatos home.

After remodeling and improving several areas of the house over the last 20 years, juggling careers and family, these now empty nesters decided to do something special for themselves. “I just want a grown-up closet” was one of the asks, and I understood. This new primary suite includes a spacious bedroom with window seat, motorized draperies, walk-in fully organized closets for each of them, an entry vestibule and a soothing spa-toned bathroom filled with natural light. Above all, this new space offers privacy from the rest of the house, when previously it was an easy view into their room from the house’s entry. Upgrades to the heating and cooling systems with heat-pump technologies were employed for a more comfortable climate they could depend on. The new space has thicker framed walls and greater insulation values that contribute to the peaceful and temperate interiors. By reoganizing the existing space and doing a modest addition, this project was able to check all the boxes for these homeowners.
